What is Perritte?
Perritte is a community of people who are trying to fulfill their mission: “To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.” Simply put, we are committed to helping people live the lives God created them to live by establishing and deepening their relationship with God while making vital connections in ministry and service with other people. For more specific information about the foundational theology of the church, please examine the “What We Believe” section of the website.
Why would I want to try Perritte?
If your life is perfect, your spouse is perfect, your job is perfect and you are perfect, then this probably isn’t the place for you. However, if you ever wondered if there is something more to life than what you are currently living, or if you have ever thought that something was missing, then Perritte is the place to explore a relationship with God with people just like you.
Where do you meet?
Perritte meets at 1025 Durst Street on the southwest side of Nacogdoches not to far from downtown. See the "Directions" section of the website under the "News & Info" link.
What is a “normal” Sunday like?
Sunday mornings at Perritte begins with our Sunday school classes for all ages at 10:00 a.m. followed at 11:00 a.m. with our Traditional Worship Service. See our "Worship" section of the website for more information on our worship service. In between worship and Sunday school you're likely to find people hanging out in the hallways or in one of our two kitchens catching up on the weeks events or just getting to know one another better. On the first Sunday of every month we have our Covered Dish Dinner. We meet together in Memorial Hall and everybody brings a dish to share (preferably with food in it). If you're wondering where everything is located you can always check one of our two map signs located in the parking lots which will help direct you to where you're trying to go.
What do you have for the children?
Children are very important to God and to Perritte. Children's Sunday school (10:00 a.m.) takes place in the Sunday school wing behind the Sanctuary. The Nursery is also conveniently located in this area as well. For more information on Children's Sunday School see our "Children & Youth" section of the website. There you will also find information on our Children's Choir. We also have a special Children's Time and Children's Worship Time during our 11:00 a.m. Traditional Worship Service.
What about youth?
The junior high and high school students meet on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons. See the "Children & Youth" section of the website for more information.
Is Perritte part of a denomination?
The answer is yes. Perritte is part of the United Methodist Church. However, the people who make up this community of faith come from diverse spiritual backgrounds. Some grew up Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian or other, and some came from families that didn't attend church. Everybody is welcome.
Will Perritte have a _____________?
There are many questions about the kinds of ministries the church will have in the future. The answer really depends on you. We hope to meet the needs of the community while empowering each member of the church to find and use the gifts God has given them.
How should I dress?
You are welcome to come as you are. On Sunday mornings you'll find everything from casual to business causual, from relaxed to coat and tie. The important thing is not how you dress, it's that you come. As we said before, everyone is welcome.
How can I get connected?
Getting connected to other Christians is vital for your spiritual growth. We encourage you to first come and give our worship service a try. Then, you can further your spiritual growth through one of our Sunday school classes or Wonderful Wednesday Bible studies or other weekday small groups or Bible studies.
What do I do with my baby?
You can either have your baby in the service with you or take advantage of our nursery. If your baby needs you during the service then one of the nursery workers will come and find you.
Who will be working with my children?
Not only do we have policies and procedures in place to help provide a safe and loving Christian enviornment for your children, but we also do a background check on everyone who works with children and youth. Our volunteers are "Safe Sanctuary" trained and love working with children and youth to help them grow in their walk with God.
